Title: Dynamic Queing in data grid scheduling

Abstract: Grid technologies have been part of the IT backbone and advancement for a very long time now. Its evolvements have affected many IT users worldwide, one way or another. However, Grid itself has not been widely spread to many IT users worldwide and the acceptance level and its advantages are not widely made known to users internationally. The specific area that is selected for this part of research and improvement is data grid scheduling. The standard scheduler that comes with GridSim is based on first-come first served (FCFS) basis. There are certain areas of improvement here to mitigate issues such as starving, requests dropping to name a few, where, quality of service is not optimum. The area of research is to introduce a new enhanced scheduler by leveraging on the existing scheduler in GridSim. A dynamic bandwidth and queuing allocation strategy, namely Dynamic Priority Queuing in Data Grid Scheduling, is being introduced in this research, whereby highest priority requests will be executed first followed by lesser priorities requests. However, the proposed solution would also take into consideration whereby when there is empty bandwidth / resource available, less priority requests will get to leverage on the resource for request execution. However, priority is always given to the high-priority users with service level agreement defined, where allocation can be dynamically modified accordingly. The purpose is basically to have all requests to be executed without dropping any request. The simulation results show the execution time of requests comparison for this proposed solution and GridSim’s standard scheduler.
