Title: An agent-based approach for supporting assessment in E-learning environments

Abstract: As the education field is becoming more advance in conjunctions with an increasingly high technology, more system assessment regarding e-learning has been created and becomes available via the intranet and World Wide Web. But still and most of the case, existing assessment in e-Learning system in our education system nowadays are still relying too much on traditional approaches. It does not allow change of approach (everybody will have to undergone the same process) which will reduce the ability of students to manipulate their way of thinking. Therefore an empowering system called as an agent system approach is adopted. This thesis will demonstrate and focus inside an agent-based approach for supporting assessment in e-learning environments. The agent does not only help students to self-regulate their activities but also help instructors to maintain an overview of the collaboration so that they can intervene when necessary. This agent can access related assessment such as marking system, students’ assessment score, evaluation types, feedback of students’ progress, analysis of students’ answer, assessment of result and students’ grading. The agent needs this information in order to perform analysis and to reach conclusions or approach that will be useful for early detection of problems in either teaching or the learning process. To meet this requirement, the system therefore develops the agent in order to extend the use of assessment in current educational system (school). Using agent software in assessment system will improve the way of understanding, whilst increasing the speed of use, ease of access, efficiency and the most important fact is the accuracy of data assessment.
