Abstract: The advancement of visualization technology leads to a lot of research in information visualization technique for visualizing the data captured by computer systems. This research develops a visualization tool for student performance data using timeline technique. The visualization tool, named StuVis, provides visualization of student performance data where teachers can monitor the learning progress of the individual student, understand the student’s learning behavior, and the assessment results of particular student such as exercises and tests. Furthermore, parents can understand the learning performance of their children. In order to develop StuVis, a literature review is conducted to identify the process involved in visualizing the student performance using timeline technique and the tasks supported by it. After that, a comparative analysis on existing visualization tools that use timeline technique as the baseline is done and the conceptual model of StuVis is developed. Next, a learning application named LCS which is used as the domain for visualization in this research is critically reviewed. Based on the model, StuVis is developed and implemented to visualize the student performance data captured by LCS. Finally, StuVis is evaluated by potential users consists of teacher and parents.
