| Title: | A MEASUREMENT TOOL FOR WEBSITE PERFORMANCE |
| Authors: | Low, Pek Ling |
| Keywords: | Website performance |
| Issue Date: | Dec-2006 |
| Abstract: | The motivation of this research paper is to investigate the factors which correlate to the
performance of a website. With the widespread adoption of the Internet among users,
website performance has become an issue of focus. In order to tune a website’s
performance, thorough understandings of the contributing performance factors are
required. However, it will be impossible to focus on every performance factor and this
paper solely emphasize on network factors. Based on the network performance factors, a
heuristic algorithm is derived to determine the performance state of the website. As the
result of this research, an application is developed to measure the network performance of
the website and the incorporated heuristic algorithm within the application will determine
the performance of the website at the measurement point of time. This application
virtually enables the user to measure any website, which is available in the Internet realm. |
