| Abstract: | Unified Modeling Language or UML has become a standard language for specifying
object-oriented software. An important part of the UML is the facility for drawing a use
case diagram. To draw a correct use case diagram, the elements of the diagram should be correctly identified. Unfortunately, most of the students are not correctly drawn the use case diagram. The main problem is they do not know how to identify correct use case
elements especially from case study given by their lecturer. Although many UML tools
have been produced in the current market, the tools are mostly suitable for expert users in UML. This is because these UML tools provide a drag and drop technique in drawing use case diagram. By using these tools, users mostly sketch their diagram first before they drawn using the tools. Nevertheless, to sketch the diagram, users need to know the elements of the diagram. Therefore, this will cause a problem for those users who have problems in determining use case elements in order to use the tools. The rise of this issue is the major reason for the Development of a Text to Use Case Diagram Tool (T-UCD) that will overcome the matter. T-UCD is a windows application which is used the Visual Basic.NET as a programming tool for the implementation. The main objective of T-UCD is to provide a tool as a solution to help students in identifying use case elements and help
them to draw a correct use case diagram. By using T-UCD, users will improve their
knowledge in specifying and classifying important requirements for drawing a correct use case diagram. The V-Shaped model has been chosen as a project methodology. In order to collect more information and requirements, questionnaire survey analysis and focus group discussion have been conducted. The satisfaction result obtained from user acceptance testing shows that T-UCD has achieved the main objective. |
