Abstract: Today’s global business environment characterized by unprecedented competitive pressures and sophisticated customers that demand speedy solutions creates a biggest set of potential suppliers to evaluate and select. Increasing global competition has made many companies recognize that competitive manufacturing in terms of low cost and high quality is crucial for success. Also they are facing rapid changes stimulated by technological innovations and changing customer demands. These companies are realized that the effort to obtain products at the right time, in the right quantity, with the right quality at the right cost for the right source is crucial for their survival. This type of problem will require effective decisions of supplier selection for purchase of any products. To deal with the complexities of the supplier selection process, the authors proposed a Decision support system (DSS) framework for purchase of computers, which will helps the top and middle level managerial decision. The framework integrates the various elements of the system such as data warehouse, mathematical model, interface engine etc. The objective of the paper is to construct a model based decision support system framework for supplier selection for purchase of computers with numeric illustration in practice. Which maximize the benefit to the organization and minimizes the total cost of purchase.
