Title: AN OBJECT ASSERTION LANGUAGE FOR INTEGRITY CONSTRAINTS IN OODBS

Abstract: In this paper an Object Assertion Language for Integrity Constraints (OALIC) is proposed. The OALIC is used to create classes and collect attributes and their constraints that are derived from composition and inheritance hierarchies. The OALIC is designed to support enforcing and maintaining integrity constraints for Object-Oriented Databases (OODBs). A new technique called detection method is designed to check the object metadata to detect and catch the OODBs violation before it occurs. Furthermore, we have implemented the OALIC and supported set of definitions that are for checking attribute values validity, OODB consistency, and also a method for verifying attribute values when inserting, deleting, and updating objects.
