Abstract: This paper discusses the performance analysis of a very powerful error correction technique called Turbo codes for low Bit Error Rate (BER) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for less Inter Symbol Interference (ISI). The channel capacity was increased using a new technique called Capacity Maximizing Sub-carrier Exclusion (CMSE) Technique. This technique adopts the transmission to the channel conditions by leaving out the weak sub carriers when necessary. In OFDM the entire channel is divided into many narrow parallel sub channels and each of them is modulated onto a separate carrier. OFDM is especially suitable for high-speed communication due to its resistance to ISI. In OFDM, multiple carriers are orthogonal to each other and allowing them to overlap, the overall amount of spectrum required is reduced. Turbo codes have made a tremendous impact on channel coding and it outperforms all previously known coding schemes by achieving near Shannon limit error correction using simple component codes and large Interleaver. It achieves a significant coding gain at lower coding rates. Thus it enhances the data transmission efficiency in digital communications systems.
