Abstract: We present an initial investigation and findings of our research project. Visualizing large volume of three-dimensional (3D) medical data set such as the heart model is often limited to high-end computers. To overcome this limitation, a cluster of homogeneous PCs and message passing interface (MPI) are utilized to create a parallel visualization system that is portable to a variety of hardware platforms and operating system. Visualization Toolkit (VTK) is chosen as the visualization tool to analyze and render the heart model. Thus we solved the problem of visualizing heart model in a cluster environment.
