| Abstract: | In today’s world, web services play an important role in many organizations. Most of the transactions are done via Internet to cover a wider segmentation. Banks, stores and colleges are providing their services online because the services can be provided globally with minimal labour cost. Hence web services open a new paradigm for organizations to do their business. However, there are limitations that must be overcome by the organizations because it opens to security thread and reliability concerns. In this thesis the reliability issues concerning response time and single point of failure will be addressed. Performance of static pages has been improved drastically with caching the results in local proxies. However, dynamic caching is not used widely as static pages because of the continuous changes in the data and the tedious tasks involved in maintaining the consistency of the cached data. Besides that, organizations have to invest on the additional hardware and software for the replication. The additional cost could be a burden to small and medium size business. In this thesis, Jini Technology has been used to share the processing power in the local area network and to host the cached data. Jini Technology is being used to minimize the cost of setting a replica site for the web services. Jini has an architecture that matched data grid layer that can be manipulated to host the caching of the dynamic contents. Based on the results from the proposed framework it is found that caching the data using Jini has improved the performance of the web services. The proposed framework provides a guideline for developers and system administrators to set up SQL results data caching will minimal cost and provide high efficiency. |
