Title: PERFORMANCE OF REAL-TIME FINANCIAL DATABASE SYSTEM

Abstract: The main objective of this research is to introduce a revolutionary new design called Query Oriented Designing (QOD ) for real-time performance of Financial Applications. The research explains the high-level database designing and partitioning to achieve real-time system performance regardless of database growth. Systems designed in this new method can withstand future database growth to provide the same system response time throughout its lifespan regardless of the database size. QOD is just the opposite of other older database designing concepts such as Relational Database Design. Many researches conducted in the field of system performance improvement have pointed out that joining tables in the relational design slows down the query performance and therefore they suggest denormalized design to certain extent to improve the system performance. The idea of QOD was born after thinking deeper into these denormalization methods. The details of QOD challenges a lot of proven concepts of Relational Database Design. QOD is anti to easy system maintenance, the price it has to pay to provide fast system response time. The research explains the steps involved in designing a database using this QOD method. The research also lists the drawbacks in this new method and the trade off it can offer. Finally the research concludes by recommending this new method for time critical systems after taking into considerations various aspects of the difficult system maintenance associated with this new method. The justification given is that, it is 3 worthwhile to achieve faster speed in computer systems by spending a one time investment for hard disk and programming. QOD requires huge one time investment in hard disk and programming, however it can provide long term benefits of providing results in real-time speed which can amortize the initial investment cost in a short time period.
