| Abstract: | The purpose of this research was to study the status of catalogs in the secondary school resource centers in the district of Kiang, Darul Ehsan. 28 (100%) librarian teachers of the secondary schools in Kiang react to the 37 questionnaires given. Data collected was analyzed by using SPSS for Windows version 11.0. Research analysis showed that 15.0% respondents had catalogs in their school resource centers. 12 resource centers had the traditional catalogs, 3 iesource centers had the electronic catalogs, 6 had both types of the catalogs, while 7 had no catalogs at all. Furthermore, 17.9% respondents said that only the electronic catalogs were being used in information research. The research analysis also showed that there were different formats of traditional catalogs available in the resource centers. Both types of catalogs were prepared according to AACR rules (35.7% traditional cataloging and 10.7% electronic cataloging). Most of the resource centers planned to use Pustaka (28.6%) as their automation system. The outcomes showed that the users did not use the catalogs as the research tools because they did not know how to use it. The electronic catalogs too were not being used, as the teachers themselves do not know how to use and teach children to use them. Finally, suggestions were forwarded for other researchers to study in order to enhance the resource centers development in the bestari education. |
