| Abstract: | This research is carried out to study the usage of Internet in teaching and learning process in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The research focuses on the aspects of factors, perception, implications and problems related to Internet usage in teaching and learning, and to investigate whether there are any significant differences in the use of Internet in teaching and learning process between genders. In this project, the survey method was employed and the instrument used are the questionnaires which has been distributed to 250 respondents. The data was analyzed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) software version 12.0.1. The result of the survey shows that most of the respondents used the Internet because of interest Majority of the teachers agreed that Internet sources may help them to gain more knowledge, whereas the majority of students perceive Internet as being able to enhance their learning materials. Majority of the teachers found that Internet has potential to change a traditional classroom style into a more interactive teaching and learning style. The main problem faced by the teachers is the prescribed curriculum which is currently tight within schedule. Whereas for the students, they are not able to use the Internet because there was no time slot to surf the Internet or there are not enough Internet connections provided at school. The result indicates that there was no significant differences in using the Internet in teaching and learning process between the two genders. The result also indicates that half of the teachers have never used the Internet for teaching and learning process. |
