| Abstract: | The teaching of Mathematics and Science in English was implemented in the year 2003
by the Malaysian Government. The change was made because English language has become a basic requirement for students to compete internationally. There is a need to have a mathematics learning package to support the Government’s purpose. However, there is a lack of learning packages available for the standard four students especially in the subject of mathematics.
This project is to develop an interactive mathematics learning package ML-Kit that was
built using multimedia technology equipped with multimedia elements. The tools and
programming language used are Adobe Flash CS 4, Action Script 3.0 and XML. The system provides instructions in English and covers the complete mathematics syllabus.
The modules include lesson plans, exercises, games, and past year examination papers.
An assessment was carried out on ML-Kit where a total of 30 participants were invited to use the system to give feedback. The system was evaluated by standard four students, teachers and parents. The feedbacks obtained were used to further improve the features of ML-Kit.
This project contributes towards the learning of Mathematics in English for standard four students and based on the feedback, ML-Kit can be a useful tool to assist standard four students in the learning of mathematics. |
