| Abstract: | This dissertation has adopted a framework development system that offers Web-Services for students so that they can interact with the University‘s Web-Services in a more effective way. It is important to understand the expectations of postgraduate stu-dents which are measured by three main factors: cost, time and satisfaction of students by using the current Web-based application services. The researcher has used survey questionnaire and interviews as a method for data collection which has helped to deter-mine the requirements of the students. Furthermore, the researcher has used analytical studies to explore the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Web-Services at other uni-versities such us North –Western University (Chicago, USA), University of Manchester (UK) and Carleton (Montreal, Canada). The present existing students‘ Web-based Application Services has a major problem in providing Web-Services for postgraduate students. At present many of the services are decentralized making it difficult for postgraduate students to liaise and make contact and register for courses. There is a need for a one-stop center for fresh applications to register rather than going to different departments to obtain the necessary clearance.
The main aim of this research is to find a solution to provide centralized Web-Services for students by choosing a suitable methodology, adopting a framework and a prototype for SOA Web-Services. Thus, that is more centralized, effective, efficient and user friendly. Thus, the researcher proposes an effective SOA to increase the operational efficiency of Web-Services for postgraduate students. It is necessary to identify the challenges in delivering a SOA technology to increase operational efficiency of Web-Services. Moreover, by reviewing the literature, the researcher found that SOA is an emerging concept which is used for delivering efficient student SOA Web-Services. Therefore, the researcher has provided service reusability from SOA Web-Services which logically divided services into smaller services to increase reusability and mod-ularity. In this case each service is a modular unit by itself and interoperability services. |
